Ingredients
4 ounces almond paste
¼ cup unsalted butter
¼ cup granulated sugar
1 egg, lightly beaten, divided
1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
¼ cup sliced almonds
2 teaspoons coarse sugar
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 400°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. In a food processor, combine almond paste, butter, and sugar; pulse until pea-sized.
3. Add half the beaten egg and flour; process until smooth.
4. Lay puff pastry on the baking sheet, spread filling on one half, leaving edges clear.
5. Fold pastry over filling, crimp edges, and roll under to seal.
6. Cut through pastry 4 times, about three-quarters deep, to form “fingers.”
7. Brush with remaining egg, sprinkle with almonds and coarse sugar.
8. Bake for 15-18 minutes until golden brown. Cool slightly before serving.
