Best French Toast Ever – Fluffy, Custardy, and Perfect Every Time!

Ingredients

• 8 thick slices bread (brioche or challah work best) • 4 eggs • ½ cup milk • ¼ cup heavy cream • 2 tbsp maple syrup • 1 tsp vanilla extract • 1 tsp cinnamon • ¼ tsp nutmeg • 2 tbsp butter • 2 tbsp brown sugar • Maple syrup for serving • Powdered sugar for dusting


Instructions

  1. In large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, heavy cream, maple syrup, and vanilla
  2. Add cinnamon and nutmeg, mix well
  3. Heat large skillet over medium heat
  4. Melt 1 tbsp butter in skillet
  5. Dip bread slices in egg mixture, coating both sides
  6. Cook French toast 3-4 minutes per side until golden brown
  7. Add remaining butter to skillet
  8. Sprinkle brown sugar in butter
  9. Cook 1-2 minutes until caramelized
  10. Dust with powdered sugar
  11. Serve with maple syrup
