Ingredients
• 8 thick slices bread (brioche or challah work best) • 4 eggs • ½ cup milk • ¼ cup heavy cream • 2 tbsp maple syrup • 1 tsp vanilla extract • 1 tsp cinnamon • ¼ tsp nutmeg • 2 tbsp butter • 2 tbsp brown sugar • Maple syrup for serving • Powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
- In large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, heavy cream, maple syrup, and vanilla
- Add cinnamon and nutmeg, mix well
- Heat large skillet over medium heat
- Melt 1 tbsp butter in skillet
- Dip bread slices in egg mixture, coating both sides
- Cook French toast 3-4 minutes per side until golden brown
- Add remaining butter to skillet
- Sprinkle brown sugar in butter
- Cook 1-2 minutes until caramelized
- Dust with powdered sugar
- Serve with maple syrup
