Ingredients

• 2½ cups all-purpose flour • 1½ cups granulated sugar • 1 cup butter, softened • 2 eggs • 1 cup buttermilk • 2 oz blue food coloring • 1 tsp vanilla extract • 1 tsp white vinegar • 1 tsp baking soda • ½ tsp salt

FOR CREAM CHEESE FROSTING: • 8 oz cream cheese, softened • ½ cup butter, softened • 4 cups powdered sugar • 1 tsp vanilla extract • 2-3 tbsp heavy cream


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F
  2. Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans
  3. Cream butter and sugar until fluffy
  4. Add eggs one at a time
  5. Mix in buttermilk, food coloring, and vanilla
  6. Combine flour, baking soda, and salt
  7. Alternate adding flour mixture and buttermilk
  8. Add vinegar and mix until combined
  9. Divide batter between pans
  10. Bake 25-30 minutes until toothpick comes clean
  11. Cool completely before frosting
  12. Beat cream cheese and butter until smooth
  13. Gradually add powdered sugar
  14. Add vanilla and cream until spreadable
  15. Frost cake layers and decorate
