Luscious Vanilla Banana Walnut Cake: A Comforting, Moist Classic

Ingredients

• 3 ripe bananas, mashed • ½ cup butter, softened • ¾ cup granulated sugar • 2 eggs • 1 tsp vanilla extract • 1½ cups all-purpose flour • 1 tsp baking powder • ½ tsp baking soda • ¼ tsp salt • ½ cup buttermilk • ½ cup chopped walnuts • 1 tsp vanilla extract

 

FOR VANILLA GLAZE: • 1 cup powdered sugar • 2-3 tbsp milk • 1 tsp vanilla extract


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F
  2. Grease and flour 9×5 inch loaf pan
  3. Cream butter and sugar until fluffy
  4. Add eggs and vanilla, beat well
  5. Mash bananas in separate bowl
  6. Combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt
  7. Alternate adding flour mixture and buttermilk to butter mixture
  8. Fold in mashed bananas and walnuts
  9. Pour into prepared pan
  10. Bake 50-60 minutes until toothpick comes clean
  11. Cool 15 minutes in pan
  12. Mix powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla for glaze
  13. Pour glaze over warm cake
  14. Cool completely before slicing
