Ingredients

For the brownie base:
• ½ cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
• ¾ cup granulated sugar
• 2 large eggs
• 1 tsp vanilla extract
• ⅓ cup cocoa powder (unsweetened)
• ½ cup all-purpose flour
• ¼ tsp salt
• ½ cup chocolate chips (optional)

For the cheesecake swirl:
• 8 oz cream cheese, softened (or dairy-free alternative)
• ¼ cup sugar
• 1 egg
• ½ tsp vanilla extract


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8×8-inch pan or line with parchment paper.
  2. Make the brownie base: In a bowl, whisk melted butter and sugar. Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla. Mix in cocoa, flour, and salt until just combined. Fold in chocolate chips if using.
  3. Make the swirl: In another bowl, beat cream cheese, sugar, egg, and vanilla until smooth.
  4. Pour brownie batter into the pan and spread evenly. Drop spoonfuls of cheesecake mixture on top.
  5. Use a knife to gently swirl through the batter—don’t overmix!
  6. Bake 28–32 minutes, until edges are set and center is fudgy (a toothpick should have moist crumbs).
  7. Cool completely before slicing for clean cuts.
