Ingredients
• ½ cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened
• ½ cup brown sugar
• ¼ cup granulated sugar
• 1 egg
• 1 tsp vanilla extract
• 1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
• ½ tsp baking soda
• ½ tsp salt
• 1 cup chocolate chips (semi-sweet, milk, or dark)
• Optional: flaky sea salt for finishing
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch round cake pan or line with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, beat butter and both sugars until light and fluffy (2–3 minutes).
- Beat in egg and vanilla until smooth.
- In another bowl, whisk flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add to wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- Fold in chocolate chips.
- Press dough evenly into the prepared pan. Smooth the top.
- Bake 20–25 minutes, until golden around the edges and soft in the center (a toothpick should have moist crumbs).
- Let cool completely in the pan on a wire rack.
✨ Serve as-is or dress it up:
• Frost with vanilla buttercream and sprinkle with extra chips
• Top with ice cream and hot fudge for à la mode magic
• Dust with powdered sugar for a simple finish
💡 Make ahead: Store at room temp for 3 days or freeze slices for longer. Reheat gently before serving.
