Chocolate Covered Bacon: The Ultimate Sweet and Salty Treat

Ingredients

• 12 slices thick-cut bacon
• 1 cup dark, milk, or semi-sweet chocolate chips (or dairy-free)
• 1 tsp coconut oil or shortening (for smooth dipping)
• Optional toppings:
• Flaky sea salt
• Crushed nuts (pecans, almonds)
• Sprinkles (red/green for holidays!)
• Crushed pretzel bits


Instructions

  1. Cook the bacon: Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Arrange bacon on a wire rack over a baking sheet. Bake 15–20 minutes until crispy. Drain on paper towels and let cool completely.
  2. Line a tray with parchment paper.
  3. Melt the chocolate: In a heatproof bowl, combine chocolate chips and coconut oil. Melt in 20-second bursts in the microwave, stirring between each, until smooth. (Or use a double boiler.)
  4. Dip the bacon: Hold one end of a bacon strip and dip into the melted chocolate, coating about half or all of it. Let excess drip off.
  5. Place on the tray. Immediately sprinkle with sea salt, nuts, or other toppings before chocolate sets.
  6. Chill 15–20 minutes until firm.

Serve at room temperature for the perfect snap!
