Classic Oatmeal Cookies

Ingredients

  • Rolled oats — 2 cups 🥣
  • All-purpose flour — 1 cup 🌾
  • Baking soda — 1 tsp 🧪
  • Salt — 1/2 tsp 🧂
  • Ground cinnamon — 1 tsp 🍂
  • Unsalted butter (softened) — 1/2 cup 🧈
  • Brown sugar (packed) — 1 cup 🍯
  • Granulated sugar — 1/2 cup 🍚
  • Large eggs — 2 🥚
  • Vanilla extract — 2 tsp 🍶
  • Raisins or chocolate chips — 1 cup 🍫

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl whisk together flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
  3. In a large bowl cream softened butter with brown and granulated sugars until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla.
  5. Gradually add dry ingredients to wet, mixing until just combined.
  6. Fold in rolled oats and raisins or chocolate chips.
  7. Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough onto prepared sheets, spacing about 2 inches apart.
  8. Bake 10-12 minutes until edges are golden and centers set.
  9. Let cookies cool on the baking sheet 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
