Ingredients
• 4 cups apple cider • 1 cup brown sugar • ½ cup granulated sugar • 1 cinnamon stick • 5 whole cloves • 2 star anise • 1 tsp vanilla extract • ¼ tsp nutmeg
Instructions
- In medium saucepan, combine apple cider and both sugars
- Add cinnamon stick, cloves, and star anise
- Bring mixture to boil over medium heat
- Reduce heat and simmer 20-25 minutes
- Stir occasionally until syrup thickens
- Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract
- Add nutmeg and stir to combine
- Strain syrup through fine mesh sieve
- Discard spices and cinnamon stick
- Let cool completely
- Transfer to clean bottles or jars
- Store covered in refrigerator for up to 2 weeks
- Shake well before using
