Honey-Glazed Ham with Apple Cider BBQ Sauce: The Showstopping Centerpiece Your Holiday Table Deserves

  • Author: WAFA LI

Ingredients

• 1 (5–7 lb) fully cooked bone-in ham (or spiral-cut)
• 1 cup apple cider (reduced to ½ cup – simmer 20 mins)
• ¼ cup honey
• 2 tbsp Dijon mustard
• 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
• 1 tsp smoked paprika
• ½ tsp garlic powder
• ½ tsp onion powder
• Pinch of cayenne (optional, for heat)
• Fresh thyme or rosemary (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 325°F (160°C). Place ham in a roasting pan, cut-side down. Score the surface in a diamond pattern if not pre-sliced.
  2. Make the glaze: In a small saucepan, reduce apple cider to ½ cup over medium heat (about 15–20 minutes). Remove from heat.
  3. Stir in honey, Dijon mustard, apple cider vinegar, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne (if using). Mix until smooth and glossy.
  4. Brush half the glaze generously over the ham. Reserve the rest for basting.
  5. Cover ham loosely with foil and bake 1.5–2 hours (about 10–12 mins per pound), until internal temperature reaches 135°F (57°C).
  6. Remove foil, brush with remaining glaze, and increase heat to 375°F (190°C). Roast 15–20 minutes more until caramelized and golden.
  7. Let rest 15 minutes before slicing. Garnish with fresh herbs.

Serve with roasted vegetables, scalloped potatoes, or a crisp green salad for a complete holiday meal!

💡 Leftover magic: Use extra ham in sandwiches, quiches, or split pea soup!
