Ingredients

• 3 cups all-purpose flour • 1 cup butter, softened • 1 cup powdered sugar • 2 eggs • 1 tsp vanilla extract • 1 tsp almond extract • 1 tsp lemon zest • 1 tsp orange zest • 1 tsp baking powder • ½ tsp salt • ½ cup sliced almonds • ½ cup candied fruit, chopped • Colored sprinkles for decoration • Royal icing for drizzling


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F
  2. Line baking sheets with parchment paper
  3. Cream butter and powdered sugar until light and fluffy
  4. Add eggs, vanilla, and almond extract
  5. Mix in lemon and orange zest
  6. Combine flour, baking powder, and salt
  7. Gradually add flour mixture to wet ingredients
  8. Fold in sliced almonds and candied fruit
  9. Roll dough into 1-inch balls
  10. Place on baking sheets 2 inches apart
  11. Bake 10-12 minutes until edges are golden
  12. Cool on baking sheets 5 minutes
  13. Transfer to wire racks to cool completely
  14. Decorate with royal icing and sprinkles
