Ingredients
1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
¾ cup granulated sugar
1 large egg
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 cups all-purpose flour
¼ tsp salt
Optional: colored sugar crystals for topping
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
Beat in egg and vanilla until smooth.
Mix in flour and salt just until combined—don’t overmix.
Scoop dough into 1-inch balls and place on baking sheet. Slightly flatten with your fingers or a fork.
Sprinkle tops with colored sugar (if using).
Bake 10–12 minutes, or until edges are lightly golden.
Cool on the pan for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
