Red Velvet Cinnamon Rolls: A Decadent Breakfast for Any Occasion

Ingredients

• 3 cups all-purpose flour • ¼ cup cocoa powder • ½ cup granulated sugar • 2¼ tsp active dry yeast • ½ tsp salt • ½ cup milk • ¼ cup butter, melted • 1 egg • 2 oz red food coloring • 1 tsp vanilla extract

FOR FILLING: • ¼ cup butter, softened • ½ cup brown sugar • 1 tbsp cinnamon

FOR CREAM CHEESE FROSTING: • 4 oz cream cheese, softened • 2 tbsp butter, softened • 1 cup powdered sugar • ½ tsp vanilla extract


Instructions

  1. Mix flour, cocoa powder, sugar, yeast, and salt in large bowl
  2. In separate bowl, whisk milk, melted butter, egg, food coloring, and vanilla
  3. Add wet ingredients to dry ingredients, mix until dough forms
  4. Knead 5-7 minutes until smooth
  5. Place in greased bowl, cover, rise 1 hour
  6. Roll dough into 12×16 inch rectangle
  7. Spread softened butter over dough
  8. Mix brown sugar and cinnamon, sprinkle over butter
  9. Roll up from long side, pinch seam to seal
  10. Cut into 12 rolls, place in greased 9×13 pan
  11. Cover and rise 30 minutes
  12. Preheat oven to 375°F
  13. Bake 20-25 minutes until golden
  14. Beat cream cheese and butter until smooth
  15. Gradually add powdered sugar and vanilla
  16. Frost warm rolls
