Ingredients
• 2 cups all-purpose flour • 1 cup butter, softened • ¾ cup granulated sugar • 2 eggs • 1 tsp vanilla extract • 1 tsp baking powder • ½ tsp salt
FOR CARAMEL LAYER: • 1 cup brown sugar • ½ cup butter • ¼ cup heavy cream • 2 tbsp corn syrup • 1 tsp vanilla extract • 1 tsp sea salt for topping
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F
- Grease 9×13 inch baking pan
- Cream butter and granulated sugar until fluffy
- Add eggs and vanilla, beat well
- Combine flour, baking powder, and salt
- Gradually add flour mixture to wet ingredients
- Press half the dough into prepared pan
- Bake 15 minutes until lightly golden
- For caramel: heat brown sugar, butter, cream, and corn syrup
- Boil 2 minutes, remove from heat
- Stir in vanilla
- Pour over baked crust
- Drop spoonfuls of remaining dough on top
- Bake 20-25 minutes until golden
- Sprinkle with sea salt while warm
- Cool completely before cutting
