Moist yellow cake layers with rich caramel filling and toasted pecan topping
Ingredients
• 3 cups all-purpose flour
• 2 cups granulated sugar
• 1 cup butter, softened
• 4 eggs
• 1 cup buttermilk
• 1 tsp vanilla extract
• 2 tsp baking powder
• ½ tsp salt
• 1 cup brown sugar
• ½ cup butter
• ¼ cup milk
• 1 tsp vanilla for caramel
• 1 cup pecans, chopped and toasted
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°F
Cream butter and sugar until fluffy
Add eggs one at a time
Mix flour, baking powder, and salt
Alternate adding flour mixture and buttermilk
Bake in three 9-inch pans 25-30 mins
Make caramel: heat brown sugar, butter, milk
Stir until thickened, add vanilla
Split cakes into three layers
Spread caramel between layers
Top with chopped toasted pecans
