Ingredients
• 2 cups (250g) all-purpose flour
• ¼ cup (50g) granulated sugar
• 1 tbsp baking powder
• ½ tsp salt
• ½ cup (1 stick / 115g) cold unsalted butter, cubed
• ¾ cup (180ml) whole milk or buttermilk
• 1 tsp vanilla extract
• ¾ cup (130g) semi-sweet chocolate chips
• Optional: coarse sugar for sprinkling
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment.
- In a large bowl, whisk flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- Cut in cold butter using a pastry cutter or fingers until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Stir in milk and vanilla just until combined (do not overmix). Fold in chocolate chips.
- Drop by ¼-cup scoops onto baking sheet (biscuits will spread slightly). Sprinkle with coarse sugar if desired.
- Bake 12–14 minutes until golden on top and edges.
- Cool 5 minutes on pan—they’re best served warm!
PRO TIP: For extra richness, brush tops with melted butter right after baking.
