Ingredients
• 8–10 egg roll wrappers (or spring roll skins)
• 1 lb (450g) ground beef
• ½ cup diced onion
• ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese
• 2 tbsp ketchup
• 1 tbsp yellow mustard
• 1 tbsp sweet pickle relish
• 1 tsp garlic powder
• Salt & pepper to taste
• Oil for frying (vegetable, canola, or peanut oil)
• Optional: lettuce, tomato, or extra condiments for serving
Instructions
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef and onion until browned. Drain excess fat.
- Stir in ketchup, mustard, relish, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Cook 2–3 minutes more. Let cool slightly.
- Lay an egg roll wrapper on a clean surface like a diamond. Place 1 tbsp of the beef mixture in the center, then top with 1 tsp cheddar.
- Fold the bottom corner over the filling, then fold in the left and right corners. Roll up tightly, sealing the top edge with a dab of water.
- Repeat with remaining wrappers and filling.
- Heat oil to 350°F (175°C) in a deep pot or fryer. Fry 2–3 rolls at a time, 1–2 minutes per side, until golden brown and crispy. Drain on paper towels.
- Serve hot with ketchup, mustard, or your favorite dipping sauce—and optional lettuce or tomato slices on the side!
