Amish Wedding Steak: Hearty, Tender, and True Comfort Food

Ingredients

• 2 lbs beef round steak, sliced thin • 8 oz mushrooms, sliced • 1 onion, sliced • 2 cups beef broth • 2 tbsp butter • 2 tbsp flour • 1 tsp garlic powder • 1 tsp onion powder • ½ tsp black pepper • 2 tbsp vegetable oil • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped • Salt to taste


Instructions

  1. Season steak slices with salt and pepper
  2. Heat 1 tbsp oil in large skillet over medium-high heat
  3. Brown steak slices in batches, 2-3 minutes per side
  4. Remove steak and set aside
  5. Add remaining oil to skillet
  6. Sauté mushrooms and onion until tender
  7. Sprinkle flour over vegetables, stir well
  8. Gradually add beef broth, whisking constantly
  9. Add garlic powder, onion powder, and pepper
  10. Bring to boil, then reduce heat
  11. Simmer 10 minutes until gravy thickens
  12. Return steak to skillet
  13. Cover and simmer 15-20 minutes until tender
  14. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving
