Baked Brie in Bread Bowl – The Ultimate Crowd-Pleasing Appetizer

  • Author: WAFA LI

Ingredients

• 1 round sourdough loaf (about 8–9 inches wide)
• 1 wheel (8 oz) Brie cheese, rind on (or Cambozola for extra creaminess)
• 2 tbsp honey or maple syrup
• ¼ cup chopped walnuts or pecans
• 2 tbsp dried cranberries or cherries
• 1 tsp fresh rosemary, chopped (or thyme)
• Optional: 1/4 tsp chili flakes for heat, or sliced apples & crackers for serving

Instructions

  1. Prep the bread: Slice off the top of the sourdough loaf. Hollow out the center, leaving about a ½-inch thick shell. Tear the removed bread into bite-sized pieces—great for dipping later!
  2. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  3. Place the Brie wheel into the bread bowl so it fits snugly.
  4. Drizzle honey evenly over the top of the cheese.
  5. Sprinkle with nuts, dried fruit, rosemary, and chili flakes (if using).
  6. Replace the bread lid and place the whole loaf on a baking sheet.
  7. Bake 20–25 minutes, until the Brie is soft and gooey when tested with a knife.
  8. Remove lid before serving to reveal the melted, bubbly center.
  9. Serve warm with the reserved bread chunks, apple slices, and crackers for dipping.

Ideal for holiday parties, game day, or a cozy night in—ready in under 30 minutes!
