Ingredients
• 1 lb (450g) ground beef
• 6 strips bacon, chopped (reserve some for topping)
• 1 small onion, finely diced (optional; omit for strict carnivore)
• 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (divided)
• 1 egg (acts as binder)
• Salt & black pepper to taste
• Optional: dash of garlic powder (if tolerated)
Note: Traditional carnivore diet excludes dairy and eggs. This recipe includes them for flavor/texture but can be adjusted.
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9-inch pie dish or cast-iron skillet.
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook chopped bacon until crispy. Remove and set aside, leaving drippings in the pan.
- Add ground beef and onion (if using) to the bacon fat. Cook until browned. Drain excess fat if needed.
- Stir in cooked bacon, ¾ cup cheese, egg, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
- Transfer mixture to the pie dish and press into an even layer.
- Top with remaining ¼ cup cheese.
- Bake 25–30 minutes, until bubbly and golden on top.
- Let cool slightly before slicing. Serve hot!
✨ Great with:
• A side of grilled mushrooms (for low-carb eaters)
• Extra burger toppings like fried egg or avocado (if not strict carnivore)
💡 Strict Carnivore Version: Omit cheese, egg, and onion. Use only beef and bacon. Press into dish and bake until firm.
