Ingredients
• 1 lb ground beef (85/15)
• ½ small onion, finely diced
• 2 cloves garlic, minced
• 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
• 1 tsp mustard powder (or 1 tbsp yellow mustard)
• 1 (30 oz) bag frozen crinkle-cut fries (or shoestring for extra crisp)
• 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese (divided)
• ½ cup dill pickle relish (or chopped cornichons)
• ¼ cup ketchup (optional swirl)
• Salt & black pepper to taste
• Optional toppings: crispy bacon bits, sliced green onions
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Lightly grease a 9×13″ baking dish.
- In a skillet, brown beef and onion over medium heat. Drain excess fat. Stir in garlic, Worcestershire, mustard, salt, and pepper. Cook 1–2 mins more. Remove from heat; stir in pickle relish.
- Spread frozen fries evenly in baking dish. Top with beef mixture.
- Sprinkle 1½ cups cheese over top.
- Bake uncovered 20 mins.
- Remove from oven; sprinkle with remaining ½ cup cheese. Drizzle with ketchup in a zigzag (if using).
- Return to oven 5–8 mins—until cheese is bubbly and fries are deeply golden and crisp at edges.
- Rest 5 mins. Top with bacon and green onions. Serve hot—best fresh from the oven!
