Ingredients
1 lb ground beef
½ cup chopped onion
2 cloves garlic, minced
¾ cup ketchup
2 tbsp brown sugar or maple syrup
1 tbsp mustard
Salt & pepper to taste
1 tsp Worcestershire sauce (optional)
4–6 hoagie or sandwich rolls, split
2 tbsp butter, melted
½ tsp garlic powder
1½ cups shredded mozzarella or cheddar cheese
Chopped parsley for garnish (optional)
Instructions
In a skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef and onions until browned. Drain excess fat.
Stir in garlic, ketchup, brown sugar, mustard, Worcestershire, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 5–7 minutes until thickened.
Mix melted butter with garlic powder. Brush cut sides of rolls with garlic butter and toast in oven or skillet until golden.
Spoon sloppy joe mixture onto toasted rolls, top with shredded cheese, and broil for 2–3 minutes until cheese is bubbly.
Sprinkle with parsley if desired. Serve warm and gooey!
