Ingredients
• 1 lb (450g) ground beef
• ½ cup breadcrumbs (or crushed crackers)
• 1 egg
• 1 clove garlic, minced
• 1 tsp Italian seasoning
• Salt & pepper to taste
• 1 cup marinara sauce (plus extra for serving)
• 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese (divided)
• ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
• ½ cup sliced pepperoni (optional)
• 4 soft burger buns (or rolls)
• Optional: sautéed mushrooms or onions
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, garlic, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Mix gently and form into 4 patties.
- Place patties in the slow cooker. Spoon marinara sauce over the top.
- Sprinkle with ¾ cup mozzarella, Parmesan, and pepperoni (if using).
- Cover and cook on LOW for 4–5 hours or HIGH for 2–3 hours, until burgers are cooked through and sauce is bubbly.
- Stir in remaining ¼ cup mozzarella during the last 15 minutes to melt.
- Toast buns lightly if desired.
- Serve each patty on a bun, spooning extra sauce and cheese on top.
