Deep Hamburger Sausage & Pepperoni Pie

Ingredients

• 1 lb (450g) ground beef
• ½ lb (225g) Italian sausage (mild or hot), casings removed
• ½ cup sliced pepperoni
• 1 small onion, diced
• 2 cloves garlic, minced
• 1 can (15 oz) pizza sauce or marinara
• 1 tsp Italian seasoning
• ½ tsp red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)
• Salt & black pepper to taste
• 1 unbaked 9-inch deep-dish pie crust (or homemade)
• 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese (divided)
• ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
• 1 egg (optional, for binding)
• Fresh basil or parsley, chopped (for garnish)


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef and sausage until browned. Drain excess fat if needed.
  3. Add onion and cook 4–5 minutes until soft. Stir in garlic, pizza sauce, Italian seasoning, red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper. Simmer 5 minutes.
  4. Remove from heat. Stir in pepperoni, ¾ cup mozzarella, Parmesan, and egg (if using). Mix well.
  5. Pour mixture into the unbaked pie crust. Top with remaining ¼ cup mozzarella.
  6. Bake 35–40 minutes, until bubbly, golden, and heated through.
  7. Let cool 5 minutes before slicing. Garnish with fresh herbs.

Serve hot with:
• Garlic bread sticks
• A crisp green salad
• Extra marinara for dipping

💡 Make ahead: Assemble unbaked pie, cover, and refrigerate overnight. Bake when ready (+5 mins).
