Description

Rich, savory, and perfectly seasoned rice, inspired by classic French onion soup!

Ingredients

Scale

1 cup long-grain white rice

2 cups beef broth (or vegetable broth for a lighter version)

1 medium onion, thinly sliced

2 tbsp butter

1 tbsp olive oil

1 tsp garlic, minced

1 tsp dried thyme

½ tsp salt

¼ tsp black pepper

¼ cup grated Gruyère cheese (optional, for topping)

Fresh parsley for garnish (optional

Instructions

In a medium pot, heat butter and olive oil over medium heat. Add onions and sauté for 10–12 minutes until caramelized, stirring occasionally.

Add garlic and thyme, cooking for 1–2 minutes until fragrant.

Stir in rice and cook for 1–2 minutes to toast slightly.

Pour in beef broth, bring to a boil, then cover and reduce heat to low.

Let rice cook for 15–18 minutes until tender and liquid is absorbed.

Remove from heat, fluff with a fork, and season with salt and pepper.

Optional: Sprinkle grated Gruyère cheese on top and let it melt before serving. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired!
