Garbage Bread: The Ultimate Stuffed Snack for Parties, Game Day & Easy Weeknight Meals

Ingredients

• 1 loaf Italian or French bread (or sourdough)
• ½ cup marinara sauce (plus extra for dipping)
• 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese (divided)
• ½ cup cooked pepperoni slices
• 6 strips bacon, cooked and crumbled
• ½ cup cooked sausage crumbles (optional)
• ¼ cup sliced black olives
• 2 tbsp grated Parmesan cheese
• 1 clove garlic, minced (optional)
• 2 tbsp butter, softened
• 1 tsp dried oregano
• Optional: green peppers, mushrooms, or jalapeños


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Slice the bread lengthwise down the center, then make diagonal cuts every 1 inch across both sides (don’t cut through the bottom crust).
  3. In a bowl, mix softened butter, garlic (if using), and oregano. Spread over all cut surfaces of the bread.
  4. Stuff the crevices with layers of:
    → Marinara sauce
    → Mozzarella cheese
    → Pepperoni, bacon, sausage, olives, and any veggies
    → Repeat until fully loaded!
  5. Sprinkle top with remaining mozzarella and Parmesan.
  6. Wrap in foil and bake 15 minutes.
  7. Unwrap and bake 10–15 more minutes until golden, bubbly, and heated through.
  8. Let cool 2 minutes, then pull apart and serve hot with extra marinara for dipping!
