Description
Loaded with tender steak, peppers, onions, and melted cheese — these Philly-style sloppy joes are a juicy, flavor-packed twist on a classic sandwich!
Ingredients
1 lb flank or sirloin steak, thinly sliced
1 tbsp olive oil
1 small onion, sliced
1 green bell pepper, sliced
1 red bell pepper, sliced
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 cup beef broth
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp soy sauce
1 tsp dried oregano
1/2 tsp smoked paprika
Salt and pepper to taste
4 soft hoagie rolls or hamburger buns
1/2 cup shredded provolone or Cheez Whiz (for that classic Philly flavor)
Instructions
Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
Add steak and cook for 2–3 minutes until browned and nearly cooked through. Remove from pan and set aside.
In the same skillet, add onion and peppers. Cook for 5–6 minutes until softened and slightly charred. Stir in garlic and cook 1 minute more.
Return steak to the pan. Add beef broth, Worcestershire, soy sauce, oregano, paprika, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 5–7 minutes until mixture thickens slightly.
Reduce heat to low. Stir in cheese until melted and everything is coated in that rich, gooey goodness.
Pile the mixture onto toasted hoagie rolls and serve immediately.
