Ingredients
• 1 lb ground beef (80/20 for best flavor)
• ½ small onion, finely diced
• 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
• 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
• ½ cup whole milk
• ½ cup all-purpose flour
• 1 cup shredded cheddar (divided)
• 2 large eggs
• ½ tsp baking powder
• ¼ tsp garlic powder
• Salt & black pepper to taste
• Optional: diced pickles, ketchup swirl, or crumbled cooked bacon on top
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Lightly grease a 9″ deep-dish pie plate.
- In a skillet, brown beef and onion over medium heat until no pink remains. Drain excess fat. Stir in Worcestershire, salt, and pepper. Spread evenly in pie plate; sprinkle with ½ cup cheddar.
- In a bowl, whisk eggs, milk, flour, baking powder, garlic powder, and ¼ tsp salt until smooth (like pancake batter). Pour gently over beef layer.
- Top with remaining ½ cup cheddar.
- Bake 25–30 mins, until puffed, golden, and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Let rest 8–10 mins before slicing—this helps it set! Serve warm with ketchup or mustard on the side.
