Description
Tender, buttery slices coated in rich brown sugar spice syrup bliss.
Ingredients
4 medium sweet potatoes, peeled and sliced into ½-inch rounds
½ cup unsalted butter
1 cup packed brown sugar
1 tsp cinnamon
¼ tsp nutmeg
¼ tsp ground cloves
½ tsp vanilla extract
Pinch of salt
½ cup chopped pecans (optional)
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly butter a baking dish.
In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Stir in brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, salt, and vanilla. Simmer for 2–3 minutes until thick and glossy.
Arrange sweet potato slices in the baking dish. Pour the syrup evenly over them.
Sprinkle chopped pecans on top (if using).
Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove foil, baste with sauce, and bake uncovered for another 20–25 minutes, until tender and caramelized.
Serve warm, spooning extra syrup from the dish over the top.
