Ingredients
1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined (tails on)
½ cup buttermilk
½ cup all-purpose flour
½ cup yellow cornmeal
1 tsp paprika
½ tsp garlic powder
½ tsp onion powder
½ tsp salt
¼ tsp black pepper
Vegetable oil (for frying)
For Cocktail Sauce:
½ cup ketchup
1 tbsp prepared horseradish
1 tsp lemon juice
¼ tsp Worcestershire sauce
Dash of hot sauce (optional)
Instructions
Pat shrimp dry and soak in buttermilk for 15 minutes.
In a bowl, mix flour, cornmeal, and spices.
Heat oil in a skillet to 350°F (175°C).
Dredge shrimp in the flour-cornmeal mix, coating evenly.
Fry in batches for 2–3 minutes per side until golden and crispy.
Drain on paper towels.
For the sauce, mix all cocktail sauce ingredients in a small bowl.
Serve shrimp hot with cocktail sauce on the side.
