Ingredients
• 8 oz elbow macaroni • 2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, shredded • 2 tbsp butter • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour • 1½ cups milk • ½ cup Parmesan cheese, grated • ¼ tsp garlic powder • ¼ tsp paprika • Salt and pepper to taste • 2 tbsp breadcrumbs for topping (optional)
Instructions
- Cook macaroni according to package directions
- Drain and set aside
- Melt butter in large saucepan
- Whisk in flour and cook 1 minute
- Gradually add milk, whisking constantly
- Cook until thickened, 3-5 minutes
- Reduce heat to low
- Stir in cheddar cheese until melted
- Add Parmesan, garlic powder, paprika
- Season with salt and pepper
- Stir in cooked macaroni
- Transfer to serving dish
- Top with breadcrumbs if desired
- Serve immediately
