Ingredients
• 2 lbs frozen tater tots • 1 lb breakfast sausage • 3 tbsp butter • 3 tbsp all-purpose flour • 2 cups milk • 1 tsp garlic powder • ½ tsp black pepper • ¼ tsp salt • 2 green onions, sliced • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped • Hot sauce for serving (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 425°F
- Spread tater tots on baking sheet
- Bake 20-25 minutes until crispy and golden
- Meanwhile, cook sausage in large skillet until browned
- Remove sausage with slotted spoon, drain excess fat
- Melt butter in same skillet
- Whisk in flour and cook 1 minute
- Gradually add milk, whisking constantly
- Add garlic powder, salt, and pepper
- Cook until thickened, 3-5 minutes
- Stir in cooked sausage
- Season with additional salt and pepper
- Serve tater tots in bowls
- Top with warm sausage gravy
- Garnish with green onions and parsley
- Add hot sauce if desired
