Ingredients
• 1½ lbs (680g) ground beef (85/15)
• 1 small onion, finely chopped
• 1 (10.5 oz) can condensed cream of mushroom soup (or cream of chicken)
• 1 (14.75 oz) can creamed corn
• 1½ cups shredded cheddar cheese
• 1 (32 oz) bag frozen tater tots
• Salt & black pepper to taste
• Optional: ½ tsp garlic powder, ½ cup sour cream, or 1 cup frozen peas/carrots
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×13″ baking dish.
- In a skillet over medium heat, brown ground beef with onion until no pink remains. Drain excess fat. Season with salt, pepper, and garlic powder (if using).
- Stir in cream of mushroom soup and creamed corn. Cook 2–3 min until blended. For extra richness, mix in sour cream.
- Spread mixture evenly in baking dish. Sprinkle with 1 cup cheese.
- Arrange tater tots in a tight, overlapping layer over top.
- Bake 40–45 minutes until tots are deep golden and crispy.
- Sprinkle remaining ½ cup cheese over hot casserole; let melt 2–3 min.
- Let rest 5 minutes before serving—this helps it set for cleaner slices!
