Ingredients
• 2 cans (28 oz total) baked beans (pork & beans or navy beans)
• 6 strips bacon, chopped
• 1 small onion, finely diced
• ½ cup root beer (classic brand like A&W or Barq’s)
• ¼ cup brown sugar (or maple syrup)
• 2 tbsp ketchup
• 1 tbsp yellow mustard
• 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
• ½ tsp smoked paprika
• Salt & black pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In an oven-safe skillet or baking dish, cook bacon over medium heat until crispy. Remove and set aside, leaving drippings in the pan.
- Sauté onion in bacon drippings 4–5 minutes until soft.
- Add beans (with their sauce), root beer, brown sugar, ketchup, mustard, Worcestershire, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Stir well.
- Mix in half the cooked bacon.
- Bake covered for 45 minutes, then uncover and bake 15–20 more minutes until bubbly and slightly thickened.
- Stir and garnish with remaining bacon before serving.
