Bleeding Heart Halloween Shots – Spooky, Fun, and Totally Unforgettable

  • Author: WAFA LI

Ingredients

For the “heart” (strawberry layer):
• 1 cup strawberry juice or blended strawberries + water
• 1 packet (¼ oz) unflavored gelatin
• 2 tbsp sugar (optional)

For the “blood” (cherry layer):
• 1 cup cherry juice or cocktail (like cherry limeade)
• 1 packet unflavored gelatin
• Red food-safe gel (optional, for intensity)

For the “bleeding” effect:
• Small heart-shaped candy or fondant cutout (optional)
• Extra cherry juice or red syrup (for drizzling)

Instructions

  1. Make the heart layer: In a small saucepan, heat strawberry juice with sugar (if using). Remove from heat. Stir in gelatin until dissolved. Pour into heart-shaped molds or ice cube trays. Chill 1–2 hours until set.
  2. Make the blood layer: Heat cherry juice. Stir in gelatin and food coloring (if using) until dissolved. Chill until slightly thickened (like egg whites).
  3. Assemble: Place set “hearts” into shot glasses. Slowly pour the thickened cherry mixture around them.
  4. Return to fridge and chill 2+ hours until fully set.
  5. Create the bleed: Just before serving, carefully drizzle a few drops of warm cherry juice or red syrup down the sides of the shot—it will seep through like blood!

Serve cold on a tray with dry ice for a foggy, haunted effect!

💡 Non-alcoholic version: Use fruit juice.
💡 Adult version: Replace half the juice with vodka or rum in each layer (add alcohol after dissolving gelatin).
