Halloween Rice Krispie Treats

Ingredients

• 6 cups rice cereal (crisp rice, gluten-free if needed)
• 1 tbsp butter or coconut oil
• 1 package (10 oz) mini marshmallows (or vegan marshmallows)
• 1 tsp vanilla extract
• 2–3 drops orange, purple, or black food gel (optional)
• Halloween sprinkles (worms, bats, ghosts, etc.)
• Candy eyes, gummy spiders, or edible googly eyes
• Optional: ½ cup crushed pretzels (for “dirt”) or chocolate chips


Instructions

  1. Line a 9×9-inch pan with parchment paper or grease lightly.
  2. In a large pot over low heat, melt butter. Add marshmallows and stir until completely smooth.
  3. Remove from heat. Stir in vanilla and food coloring (if using) until evenly colored.
  4. Fold in rice cereal until fully coated—don’t crush!
  5. Mix in sprinkles, candy eyes, or crushed pretzels for extra spookiness.
  6. Press mixture firmly into the pan with a greased spatula.
  7. Decorate the top with gummy spiders, more candy eyes, or drizzle with melted chocolate to make webs.
  8. Let cool 15–20 minutes until set. Cut into squares or use Halloween cookie cutters for fun shapes!
