For the Donuts:

  • 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast (1 packet)
  • 1/4 cup warm water (110Β°F/45Β°C)
  • 3/4 cup warm whole milk
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • Vegetable oil, for frying

For the Signature Glaze:

  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup whole milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tbsp melted butter

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water and let stand for 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. Stir in warm milk, sugar, melted butter, and egg until combined.
  3. Add flour and salt, mixing until a soft dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for 6–8 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1–1Β½ hours, or until doubled in size.
  6. Roll dough to 1/2-inch thickness and cut with a donut cutter.
  7. Place donuts on parchment-lined baking sheets and let rise for 30–45 minutes.
  8. Heat oil to 350Β°F (175Β°C) in a deep fryer or heavy pot.
  9. Fry donuts for 1–2 minutes per side until golden brown.
  10. Transfer to a wire rack.
  11. Whisk together powdered sugar, milk, vanilla, and melted butter until smooth.
  12. Dip warm donuts into the glaze, coating both sides if desired.
  13. Return to the rack and allow excess glaze to drip off before serving.
