For the Donuts:
- 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast (1 packet)
- 1/4 cup warm water (110Β°F/45Β°C)
- 3/4 cup warm whole milk
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp salt
- Vegetable oil, for frying
For the Glaze:

- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 1/4 cup whole milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
- In a large bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water and let stand for 5 minutes until foamy.
- Add warm milk, sugar, egg, and melted butter. Mix well.
- Stir in flour and salt until a soft dough forms.
- Knead the dough for 6β8 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1β1Β½ hours or until doubled in size.
- Roll dough out to about 1/2-inch thickness on a lightly floured surface.
- Cut out donut shapes using a donut cutter or two round cutters.
- Place on parchment-lined trays, cover lightly, and let rise for 30β45 minutes.
- Heat oil to 350Β°F (175Β°C).
- Fry donuts in batches for 1β2 minutes per side until golden brown.
- Transfer to a wire rack set over a baking sheet.
- Whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth.
- Dip warm donuts into the glaze and place back on the rack to set.
