Mini Cannoli Cups 🧁✨

  • Author: WAFA LI

Ingredients

Scale
(Makes 12 mini cups)

Shells:

  • 12 mini phyllo shells (or homemade almond flour tartlets for GF/low-carb—you love this!)

Ricotta filling:

  • 1 cup whole-milk ricotta cheese, drained (you love creamy richness!)
  • ¼ cup powdered sweetener (powdered erythritol or monk fruit blend—you love blood sugar friendly!)
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ tsp orange zest (classic cannoli brightness—you love citrus!)
  • Pinch of cinnamon

Mix-ins & finish:

  • 2 tbsp mini sugar-free chocolate chips (or chopped dark chocolate ≥85% cacao)
  • Optional: Chopped pistachios or candied orange peel
  • Dusting: Powdered sweetener or cocoa powder

Instructions

1. Prep shells:
If using store-bought phyllo shells, bake according to package (usually 5–7 min at 350°F). Cool completely.
(For GF/low-carb: Press almond flour + butter + sweetener into mini muffin tin; bake 10 min at 350°F.)
2. Make filling:
In a bowl, whisk ricotta, powdered sweetener, vanilla, orange zest, and cinnamon until smooth. Fold in chocolate chips.
3. Fill & serve:
Spoon or pipe filling into cooled shells. Top with extra chocolate chips, pistachios, or orange peel. Dust with powdered sweetener or cocoa.
💡 Pro Tips for Perfection:
Drain ricotta—place in fine-mesh strainer 10 min to prevent watery filling.
Use orange zest—not extract—for authentic, bright flavor (you love citrus!).
Blood sugar friendly (you love this!):
→ All sweeteners are zero-glycemic
→ Net carbs: 4g per cup
Low-carb/keto option (you love this!):
→ Almond flour shells keep it keto
→ Use 100% cacao chocolate chips
Make ahead:
→ Filling keeps 3 days refrigerated
→ Fill shells within 2 hours of serving to preserve crispness

Storage & Serving Ideas
Fridge life: Filled shells best within 4 hours (unfilled shells store 3 days)
Serving ideas:
→ As elegant party desserts
→ With espresso or after-dinner tea
→ For Italian dinner finales
