- 1 sleeve saltine crackers (about 40 crackers)
- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/4 tsp sea salt (optional, for topping)
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans or nuts (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or foil.
- Arrange saltine crackers in a single layer on the sheet.
- In a saucepan, melt butter and brown sugar over medium heat. Stir constantly and bring to a boil for 3 minutes.
- Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
- Pour hot caramel mixture evenly over crackers and spread quickly.
- Bake for 5–6 minutes until bubbly.
- Remove from oven and immediately sprinkle chocolate chips over the top.
- Let sit for 2–3 minutes until melted, then spread into an even layer.
- Sprinkle with sea salt and nuts if using.
- Chill in the refrigerator for 1 hour until set, then break into pieces.
