- 8 slices whole wheat bread
- 4 beef or turkey hot dogs
- 8 slices sharp cheddar cheese
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter, softened
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp dried parsley
- Β½ tsp onion powder
- 1 tbsp Dijon mustard (optional)
Optional Toppings:
- Pickle slices
- Sliced jalapeΓ±os
- Caramelized onions
- Ketchup
- Yellow mustard
Instructions
- Heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat.
- Cook the hot dogs for 5β7 minutes, turning occasionally, until heated through and lightly browned.
- Mix the softened butter with the garlic powder, parsley, and onion powder.
- Spread the seasoned butter on one side of each bread slice.
- Place four slices of bread, butter-side down, on a clean work surface.
- Add one slice of cheddar cheese to each piece of bread.
- Place a cooked hot dog on top of the cheese and add Dijon mustard if desired.
- Top each with another slice of cheddar cheese and the remaining bread slices, butter-side up.
- Grill each sandwich for 3β4 minutes per side, pressing gently with a spatula, until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted.
- Slice in half and serve immediately with your favorite toppings or dipping sauces.
