  • 8 slices whole wheat bread
  • 4 beef or turkey hot dogs
  • 8 slices sharp cheddar cheese
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp dried parsley
  • Β½ tsp onion powder
  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard (optional)

Optional Toppings:

  • Pickle slices
  • Sliced jalapeΓ±os
  • Caramelized onions
  • Ketchup
  • Yellow mustard

Instructions

  1. Heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat.
  2. Cook the hot dogs for 5–7 minutes, turning occasionally, until heated through and lightly browned.
  3. Mix the softened butter with the garlic powder, parsley, and onion powder.
  4. Spread the seasoned butter on one side of each bread slice.
  5. Place four slices of bread, butter-side down, on a clean work surface.
  6. Add one slice of cheddar cheese to each piece of bread.
  7. Place a cooked hot dog on top of the cheese and add Dijon mustard if desired.
  8. Top each with another slice of cheddar cheese and the remaining bread slices, butter-side up.
  9. Grill each sandwich for 3–4 minutes per side, pressing gently with a spatula, until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted.
  10. Slice in half and serve immediately with your favorite toppings or dipping sauces.
