  • Salt & black pepper to taste

  • Optional creamy boost (you love cream cheese!): 4 oz softened cream cheese + 2 tbsp milk

For serving:

  • Hoagie rolls (classic)

Instructions

1. Prep packets:

  1. Cut four 12×18″ sheets of heavy-duty foil. Lightly oil center of each.
  2. Divide beef, peppers, onions, and mushrooms evenly among packets.
  3. Drizzle with oil; sprinkle with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.

2. Seal packets:

Fold foil over ingredients; crimp edges tightly to seal (creates steam chamber).

3. Cook (choose your method):

  • Grill: Place packets on medium heat; cook 15–20 minutes, flipping once.
  • Oven: Bake at 400°F (200°C) for 20–25 minutes.
  • Campfire: Nestle packets in hot coals; cook 20–25 minutes, rotating occasionally.

4. Add cheese & serve:

  1. Carefully open packets (steam is hot!).
  2. Top each with 2 provolone slices (or dollop with cream cheese mixture).
