  • Author: WAFA LI

Ingredients

Scale
(Serves 4)

Carne asada marinade:

  • lbs skirt or flank steak (you love rich, marbled cuts!)
  • ¼ cup fresh lime juice (you love citrus!)
  • ¼ cup fresh orange juice
  • 3 tbsp olive oil
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp sea salt (use reduced-sodium—you love low-sodium!)

For serving:

  • 12 small corn tortillas (or lettuce wraps for low-carb—you love this!)
  • Toppings:
    → Chopped white onion
    → Fresh cilantro
    → Lime wedges
→ Salsa verde or pico de gallo
→ Optional: Sliced radishes, avocado, or Greek yogurt (for crema—you love high-protein!)

Instructions

1. Marinate steak:

In a bowl or zip-top bag, combine lime juice, orange juice, olive oil, garlic, cumin, smoked paprika, pepper, and salt. Add steak; toss to coat. Marinate 15–30 minutes (or up to 4 hours).

2. Cook steak:

  1. Heat a large cast-iron skillet or grill pan over high heat.
  2. Remove steak from marinade (discard used marinade).
  3. Sear steak 4–6 minutes per side for medium-rare (adjust for thickness).
  4. Rest 5 minutes; slice thinly against the grain.

3. Warm tortillas:

Heat tortillas in dry skillet 30 seconds per side, or wrap in damp towel and microwave 30 seconds.

4. Serve:

Fill tortillas with sliced steak. Top with onion, cilantro, salsa, and lime.
💡 Pro Tips for Perfection:
Slice against the grain—makes tough cuts tender.
Use high heat—creates authentic char and crust.
