For the Dough:
- 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast (1 packet)
- 1/4 cup warm water (about 110°F / 45°C)
- 3/4 cup warm milk
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 large egg
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp salt
- Vegetable oil (for frying)
For the Glaze:
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
- In a bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water and let sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
- Add warm milk, sugar, melted butter, and egg. Mix well.
- Stir in flour and salt until a soft dough forms.
- Knead dough for 6–8 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1–1.5 hours until doubled.
- Roll dough out to about 1/2-inch thickness.
- Cut out donut shapes and place on parchment paper.
- Let rise again for 30–45 minutes.
- Heat oil to 350°F (175°C).
- Fry donuts for 1–2 minutes per side until golden brown.
- Drain on paper towels.
- Mix glaze ingredients until smooth.
- Dip warm donuts into glaze and let set on a rack.
