Old Fashioned Custard Pie: Creamy, Classic, and Timeless Homemade Dessert

Ingredients

  • 1 unbaked 9-inch pie crust
  • 4 large eggs
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 2 1/2 cups whole milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg (plus extra for topping)

 

  • 1 tbsp butter, melted

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Place pie crust into a 9-inch pie dish and set aside.
  3. In a bowl, whisk eggs and sugar until smooth.
  4. Add milk, vanilla, salt, melted butter, and nutmeg. Mix well.
  5. Pour custard mixture into the pie crust.
  6. Lightly sprinkle extra nutmeg on top.
  7. Bake for 45–55 minutes, until the center is just set but slightly wobbly.
  8. Let cool completely, then refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
  9. Slice and serve chilled or at room temperature.
