- 2 cups warm water
- 2/3 cup granulated sugar
- 1 1/2 tbsp active dry yeast
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
- 1 1/2 tsp salt
- 6 cups all-purpose flour
Instructions
- In a large bowl, dissolve sugar in warm water and stir in yeast. Let sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
- Add oil, salt, and flour gradually, mixing until a soft dough forms.
- Knead dough for 6–8 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Punch down dough and divide into two loaves.
- Place in greased loaf pans and let rise again for 30–40 minutes.
- Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 25–30 minutes until golden brown.
- Brush tops with butter for extra softness (optional).
- Cool before slicing.
